Jim May, FNP-C, spent more than a decade as an ER and trauma nurse at Verde Valley Medical Center and Yavapai Regional Medical Center before becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner. That background shapes how he practices: he listens closely, takes time with every concern, and builds treatment plans around each patient’s needs.
Jim earned his Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Purdue University, completing it while working full time during the COVID pandemic.
He grew up in the Verde Valley and graduated from Mingus High School. Direct Primary Care gives him the time to know his patients, their history, and their goals.

How much does membership cost?
Adults are $85 per month, spouses are $50 per month, and children under 18 are $10 per month each. A family of four is $155 per month.
Is Direct Primary Care the same as health insurance?
No. Direct Primary Care is a membership for primary care services. We recommend keeping insurance coverage for emergencies, hospital care, and specialist visits.
Can I see Jim for hormone therapy?
Yes. Hormone therapy plans are based on your symptoms, history, and lab work, and your provider monitors your progress over time.
Where and when is Alpha Medical open?
We are at 699 N 10th St in Cottonwood, Arizona, open Monday through Thursday, 8am to 4:30pm, and Friday, 8am to 12pm. We see patients from Cottonwood, Sedona, Camp Verde, Clarkdale, and across the Verde Valley.
